Adele, Sam Smith and more announced for Band Aid 30
By Sam Rigby
Adele, One Direction and Sam Smith are among the big names involved in the Band Aid 30 charity single.
Organisers Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure officially announced the project today (November 10), with proceeds going to victims of the Ebola crisis.
Ed Sheeran, Bono, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding and Olly Murs will also record vocals for the single.
Bastille and Emeli Sandé will also appear on the track, which is being released to mark the 30th anniversary of the original Band Aid single.
The lyrics to Do They Know It’s Christmas? will be altered by Geldof to speak about the Ebola crisis. The original version was released to raise money for the Ethiopian famine of 1984.
The new version of the song will be recorded this weekend, ahead of its release next Monday (November 17). The single will cost 99p to download, with physical copies priced at £4.
