Adele tells Donald Trump to stop using her songs
Adele has told US presidential candidate Donald Trump he does not have permission to play her music during his campaign trail, following a number of complaints from fans.
The billionaire mogul and Republican frontrunner, who is said to be a fan of the British star, has been reportedly playing ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and grabs from ‘Skyfall’ to pump up his avid Trump supporters at rallies, according to the Independent.
Joining other artists including Neil Young, Michael Stipe from REM and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith who vetoed the use of their music, the 27-year-old Grammy award winner has said she does not want Trump repurposing her songs for any kind of “political campaigning”.
“Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning,” her spokesperson said in a statement.
The statement comes in light of commentary from across social media, where fans spoke of feeling “offended on Adele’s behalf”.
“Does Adele know that Donald Trump plays her songs at his rallies? I have a feeling she would not be pleased,” tweeted one user.
“Noooooo!! Not Adele!! Must Trump ruin that too?!” wrote another.
@JulieBrethauer @Adele I think he thinks he can get away with anything he wants. Despicable.

While Adele is yet to pursue legal action, lawyers for Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler have sent a cease and desist letter to Trump’s campaign committee, reports The Guardian.
The letter has stipulated that Trump has not sought their “client’s permission to use Dream On” or any other songs by Tyler, while also giving “the false impression that he is connected with, or endorses, Mr Trump’s presidential bid”.
After Trump used ‘It’s the End of the World’ at a recent campaign event, Michael Stipe from REM has said, “go f*** yourselves, the lot of you”, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
“You sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men. Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign,” he said in a statement.
