Affleck on ‘Gone Girl’ naked scene: ‘The penis is in there’

Ben Affleck has discussed his naked scene in eagerly-anticipated film thriller Gone Girl.

The big screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s hit 2012 novel sees Affleck take on the role of Nick Dunne, whose wife Amy (played by Rosamund Pike) goes missing under suspicious circumstances on the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary.

One already-infamous scene sees Affleck strip down to his birthday suit – and the actor has now confirmed that his penis is briefly exposed on screen.

“The penis is in there!” he told MTV. “It costs extra – it’s IMAX penis. You’ve gotta pay fifteen bucks to see it in 3D – it looks better in 3D.”

“You should know it was a very cold set,” the 42-year-old added jokingly.

Explaining why he was happy to let everything hang out in his naked scene, Affleck said: “I don’t know, I try to get it in every movie! [Director David Fincher] said to me from the beginning, “this is a ‘warts-and-all’ movie. You can’t have any vanity. You have to see the naked underbelly of this character.’

“It’s got to be, like, in Europe they just don’t give a shit about any of that stuff, and they just play real people, you know? And so that was the spirit of the thing, and we kinda stuck to that.”

Gone Girl will be released in the UK this Friday (October 3). In the meantime, watch the film’s trailer below:
