Andrew Scott discusses ‘Sherlock’ gay fan-fiction

Andrew Scott has discussed the fan-fiction inspired by his character on BBC One’s Sherlock and the iconic sleuth played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
Irish actor Scott, 37, appeared in the first two series of Sherlock as Jim Moriarty, the archenemy of Cumberbatch’s Sherlock Holmes, and he describes the characters as “absolutely obsessed with each other”.
“The lines are blurred between hate and love,” Scott adds teasingly, speaking in the latest issue of Attitude.
Asked about the fan-fiction Moriarty’s intense relationship with the sleuth inspires, Scott says: “Oh my God. It’s the drawings and the photos! It’s mostly women doing it…You’re put with quite an array of different people… I think it’s done by librarians!”

During his Attitude cover interview, Scott also discusses his experience of “coming out” as gay and his role in forthcoming British film Pride, which follows the real-life story of the seemingly unlikely alliance between a group of LGBT rights activists from London and a small Welsh mining community in Thatcher-era Britain.
