Angelina Jolie: ‘I’d be thrilled if drag queens do ‘Maleficent’
By Nick Levine

Angelina Jolie has said she will be “thrilled” if drag queens start dressing up as her new Disney villainess, Maleficent.
The actress takes on the title role in Disney’s Maleficent, a live-action reimagining of the studio’s 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty – this time, told from the point of view of the evil fairy.
In stills from the film, Jolie is pictured wearing glamorous flowing black gowns and a fierce headpiece – a look that clearly lends itself to drag.
“I would be thrilled if it’s embraced by the drag queens,” Jolie said at a recent press conference to promote the film. “I think we all share a love of this kind of costume.”
Maleficent opens in UK cinemas next Wednesday (May 28) – in the meantime, watch the trailer below.
