Anna Paquin bites back after Larry King bisexuality question
By Will Stroude
Anna Paquin was forced to explain the concept of bisexuality to Larry King during an interview with the veteran chatshow host last week (July 21).
After discussing Paquin’s role as Sookie Stackhouse in long-running vampire drama True Blood, King asked the 32-year-old actress – who is married to co-star Stephen Moyer – whether she was a “non-practising bisexual.”
“Well, I mean I am married to my husband and we a happily, monogamously married,” Paquin explained.
“But you were bisexual?” King responded.
“I don’t think it’s a past-tense thing,” the star countered. “Are you still straight if you’re with somebody? If you were to break up with them or they were to die, it doesn’t mean, you know, it doesn’t prevent your sexuality from existing.”
Her comments elicited a surprising response from the 81-year-old host, who told her to “stop with the wishful thinking.”
“I’m just saying it doesn’t really work like that, you know?” Paquin said, before the conversation moved on to the progress of LGBT rights in the US.
Last week, the Oscar-winning actress – who came out as bisexual in 2010 – hit out at the perception that bisexuals can’t be monogamous – click here to read her comments.
The final season of True Bloodb is currently airing on HBO in the US and on FOX in the UK.
