It seems the next season of Netflix’s Sex Education will be looking very different from the last with yet another cast member not returning to the project.
Rakhee Thakra, who played teacher Emily Sands throughout the show’s first three seasons, is the latest to announce their departure from the hit show.

“I’m not part of the new series. I can’t really talk about why,” she cryptically explained to the Daily Star Sunday.
She continued: “But I’m so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education.”
As well as Thakra, Simone Ashley will also not be a part of the new season due to her commitment to the role of Kate in Bridgerton.
Fan-favourite couple Lily and Ola will also not be appearing in the next season, with both Tanya Reynolds and Patricia Allison departing the show.
Allison, 27, announced her departure from paying the pansexual student on Capital Xtra saying: “I know, I absolutely have loved being on Sex Education so, so much, and playing Ola but unfortunately, I won’t be joining the team for season four.”
She added: “I love the show. [But you] have to say goodbye some time which is kind of sad. But other things are coming.”

Meanwhile, Reynolds, 30, who portrayed alien-loving Lily, said of her character: “Her storyline was just wrapped up quite nicely at the end of season three. So she’s got no loose ends to tie up, she had quite a happy ending.”
“At the end of last season, everyone kind of gets scattered, and I think that’s just a good opportunity to bring in some new characters,” she continued.
With a number of actors departing, new characters seem the only option for season 4 of Sex Education.
Despite a number of exits, a lot of the main cast are expected to return for season four, including Asa Butterfield, Ncuti Gatwa, and Emma Mackey.
Season four of Sex Education was greenlit in September 2021 by Netflix, and production is due to begin soon but there has been no release date announced so far.
The Attitude September/October issue is available to download and order in print now and will be on newsstands from Thursday 4 August.
