Ariana Grande has revealed that she has sampled Diana Ross’s I’m Coming Out on her forthcoming album.

I’m Coming Out, written and produced by Chic’s Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers, was released as the second single from Ross’s iconic 1980 album Diana, and went on to peak at number 13 in the UK and number five in the US.

With lyrics including “I’m coming out – I want the world to know”, it was immediately adopted as a gay anthem for obvious reasons.

Grande, who recently topped the UK’s Official Singles Chart with Problem, has sampled the classic disco track on a track called Break Your Heart Right Back, which features on her forthcoming second album My Everything.

“It’s about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy. Thats’s a very fun concept,” Grande told Attitude recently. “Well, originally it was going to be about a boy who cheats with a girl, but then I was like, ‘No, I want it to be about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy’.”

dianaThe singer, whose half-brother Frankie is gay, then added: “The sample on the song is I’m Coming Out, so I was like, ‘How funny and tongue-in-cheek would it be if the song was about him coming out because he cheated on her with another guy?’ It’s a cheeky song, I’m excited for people to hear it.”

Ariana Grande’s new album My Everything, which also features Problem and her recently-debuted club banger Break Free, will be released on August 20. You’ll be able to read a full three-page interview with the break-out popstar in the next issue of Attitude.

Meanwhile, Grande has recently teamed up with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj for a stomping soul-pop track called Bang Bangclick here to listen to it.
