A pair of American artists have created a book filled with drawings of vaginas by gay men.

The 220-page book, titled Gay Men Draw Vaginas, features hundreds of drawings from gay men interpreting what they believe a vagina to look like, and the pictures range from being anatomically correct to barely recognisable and surprisingly whimsical.

Writer Shannon O’Malley and photographer Keith Wilson have been collecting the drawings for over three years, after coming up with the idea when O’Malley challenged Wilson to draw a vagina during dinner at a restaurant.

The pair have launched a campaign on crowd-funding website Kickstarter to help raise money for the project. Until enough money is raised to print more copies of the book, they say they will continue to tour their “portable vag museum” around the US.

“We hope it brings up questions like ‘How do people respond to discomfort or ambiguous expectations through art?’ or ‘What are the preconceptions we may have about what a ‘gay’ man is or thinks?'” the duo told Buzzfeed.

The continued: “One of the great things about Gay Men Draw Vaginas is that you can appreciate it as just a fun idea that makes for clever party conversation, or you can think more about the deep vag stuff.”
