Attitude cover star Robbie Williams becomes top solo act in UK history
Attitude cover star Robbie Williams is said to be “chuffed” after becoming the most successful British solo act in UK history with his latest number one album.
The Heavy Entertainment Show is Robbie’s 12th album to reach number one on Britain’s chart. The only other solo artist to have achieved and beaten this record is Elvis Presley with a total of 13 hit albums.
Williams passed David Bowie but is currently tied with Madonna who also has 12 studio number one albums.
Speaking to Office Chart, Williams said: “I’m chuffed that this album is number one and I’m humbled by these amazing statistics and facts.”
Williams then thanked Sony, his record label, for their work.
“I’m as proud of this album as much as any other and hope that the fans enjoy it as much as I loved making it.”
Just one week after its release, Williams’ album became the fourth highest-selling of the year behind David Bowie’s Blackstar and Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
