Australia announces Eurovision Song Contest entry

Australia has selected Guy Sebastian to represent the country at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
Last month (February), the country was invited to perform as the “wildcard” entry to mark the much-loved competition’s 60th anniversary.
Sebastian won the Australian version of Pop Idol back in 2003 and has gone on to achieve eight Top Ten albums and two Number One singles in his home country.
“There was a lady with a beard last time. I’m not going to wear a dress,” said Sebastian. “I’m not sure about the song yet – that’s still being worked out.”
“You look at Conchita last year, it was so unexpected. There’s no real boundaries to it – that’s what I love,” he added.
As a one-off contestant, the country wouldn’t be permitted to hold the ceremony in 2016 should they win this year’s competition. Instead, they would be allowed to send a singer to represent them for a second year in a row and would host the competition in a European city.
Tragically, Sebastian wasn’t even on our list of Eurovision picks.
