A’Whora has apologised for breaking self-isolation rules after recently catching coronavirus.
The Drag Race UK star says she tested positive following a PCR test after a recent gig in Brighton.
A’Whora, who is double-vaccinated, said in a since-deleted tweet posted last Friday (20 August 2021) “Miss COVID got me good today.” However, fans then questioned why the star was seen in public after the diagnosis claim.

In the UK, according to the NHS, you must self-isolate for 10 full days if you test positive for coronavirus or have been in close contact with someone who has it.
The star clarified the situation in an extended statement posted to Twitter yesterday (23 August 2021).
A’Whora’s statement in full, as is written
“I want to take accountability and start by apologising for the recent covid case, from my tweets and unclear communication I feel it is my responsibility to explain and be sorry to those around me.

“After drag fest on Sunday I started to feel ill when we was travelling to Brighton for the last show of UKD [UK Dolls], that day I took a lateral flow and the result was negative so I assumed it must have been down to tiredness/exhaustion and being run down! After the Brighton show we came home and that night when I brushed my teeth I couldn’t taste the toothpaste which I found to be very strange.
“Following that I then booked myself to have a PCR test done at my local centre as I wanted to ensure I got the clearest result! From that my test came back positive so from that moment I isolated in my room away from my housemates. Prior to this I have been double vaccinated and always took measures carefully, with meet and greets I’m always the first to ask people to keep distant for our and your safety when we are travelling across the country.
“Whilst I’m isolation I have been testing myself everyday and monitoring my symptoms. Friday morning I received my first negative result. I then repeated this lateral testing every morning when I wake and every night before I sleep. After having 7 negative results and no longer having symptoms of covid I came out of isolation.
“I thought it was a safe decision and understand the risk I could have caused on others comes with huge repercussions, so I want to sincerely apologise and know that I have acknowledged the behaviour of my actions, lack of awareness and inconsideration of my own choices I won’t try to do better, I will do better, and take this as a lesson to understand the full covid measures and llegal requirements regardless of the circumstances [sic].”
According to the UK government website, “if the police have reasonable grounds to believe that you have committed a criminal offence in breach of your duty to quarantine, they may issue you with a fine (fixed penalty notice). Fines start at £1,000 for a first offence and can increase up to £10,000 for repeat offences.”
