BBC announces new change for ‘Eurovision Song Contest 2020’
The UK has secured its place in next year's competition

The BBC has announced a change to the next Eurovision Song Contest entry.
In previous years, the act to represent the UK has been decided by a public vote through a televised competition.
But for the 2020 competition, the BBC has announced a change.
After it was confirmed that the UK was confirmed to be taking part in the 2020 competition, the BBC revealed that the UK act will be decided by the BBC in collaboration with the record label and publisher BMG.
Following the competition, the song will be released by the record label – which published Sweden’s winning 2015 entry ‘Heroes’.
Writing on Twitter, the official account fotr the song contest said: “Rotterdam 2020.
“Today we are pleased to announce our collaboration with record company BMG for next year’s Eurovision!”

Kate Phillips, Controller of Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC said: “Our commitment to finding the right song has never been higher, and this collaboration with BMG, who have access to world-class songwriters, is a genuinely exciting prospect.
“I am certain that together we can find the best song and artist possible for 2020.”
Mel Balac, Creative Director for BBC Studios added: “The Eurovision Song Contest is a huge global event and it’s exciting that our collaboration with BMG marks an important turning point for the UK at Eurovision. We very much hope this marks the start of an exciting new chapter.”
