Bette Midler: Republican debate not unlike Lenny Kravitz’s penis

By Will Stroude

The Divine Miss M has thrown her opinion about the US Republican leadership debate into the mix, and it’s trending like crazy across Twitter.

Midler made the comments From a Distance this week, comparing the debate to Lenny Kravitz’s Stockholm wardrobe function, where his ripped leather plants exposed his wiener to the world.

“Lenny Kravitz’s penis slipped out on stage? So what? Wait for the GOP Debate on tonight – there will be 10 dicks on stage!” tweeted Midler.

The amusing comments have already been favourited almost 8,000 times and retweeted almost 6,000 times.

During the debate, Pennsylvanian Senator Rick Santorum seemingly forgot his anti-gay stance, when he told the crowd America was a great country because “compassion is in our laws”.

“When we treat everyone equally under the law, that’s when we feel good about being Americans.”

When the US Supreme Court ruled that all Americans including LBGT couples had a constitutional right to marriage, Santorum said that “five un-elected justices decided to redefine the foundational unit that binds together our society without public debate or input”.

“Now is the people’s opportunity respond because the future of the institution of marriage is too important to not have a public debate,” he said.
