Beyoncé is set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
MTV has confirmed that the 32-year-old singer will be this year’s recipient of the award, which has previously gone to the likes of Britney Spears, George Michael and Madonna. Beyoncé will celebrate the honour with a performance at the ceremony, which is set to take place later this month on August 24.
The singer is nominated for eight awards at this year’s VMAs – more than any other artist or band. Drunk in Love is up for Video of the Year and Best Collaboration, Partition is in the running for Best Female Video and Best Choreography, and Pretty Hurts is nominated for Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Video With a Social Message.
Other artists confirmed to be performing at the ceremony in Los Angeles include Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Eminem.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé once again surprised fans with new music when she released a remix of her track Flawless, featuring rapper Nicki Minaj, without any warning onto the web earlier this week – listen to it here.
