Billboards for new TV show ‘The Grinder’ have commuters chuckling
By Nick Bond
Debuting on Fox in the US next month, The Grinder is a new legal comedy series starring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage – and it’s already causing quite the stir thanks to its name and some rather perplexing billboard ads doing the rounds on social media.
The series follows a TV actor (Lowe) who returns to his hometown after his long-running television series, The Grinder (on which he played a lawyer), is suddenly cancelled.
Unfortunately, his family are actual lawyers who run an actual law firm, so having believed that his television experience would make him qualified to be a lawyer, he decides to join their firm despite the fact that he only played one on the small screen.
If the name of the show itself didn’t make you giggle, given it’s just one letter away from the world’s most famous gay hook-up app, the tagline used in the marketing posters should raise a chuckle:
Um, guys. This is in the Port Authority subway station. "The Grinder: There's No One He Can't Get Off." @grindr pic.twitter.com/b4dapzz6RR

The Grinder: There's No One He Can't Get Off! Is an elaborate joke, right? pic.twitter.com/L7oHHxGnn6

Please tell me this Grinder show intentionally says "there's no one he can't get off" as a hat tip to the dating app pic.twitter.com/U9aVtS8j7A

‘The Grinder – there’s no-one he can’t get off’? Seriously?
The posters – which have sprung up around subway platforms and other spaces in the US – have popped up on Twitter in recent days, with users asking: are the ad department in on the joke?
