The first official trailer for Captain Marvel has been released and it is everything we have been waiting for.
Since Thanos’ snap of the fingers, the Marvel world has been in chaos. Fans keep asking who is the one to reserve the dreaded snap which killed off fan favourites including mostly all of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther and Spider-Man (Weep!!)
But it’s not all in vain just yet! For those who haven’t watched the post-credit scenes of Avengers: Infinity War, here’s a brief recap…
We see the rest of the world falling into a meltdown as people disintegrate into dust around loved ones. Out of those people is S.H.I.E.L.D agent Marie Hill (Cobie Smulders) and the one-eyed creator of the Avengers initiative Nick Fury – played by Samuel L Jackson.
Hill disappears first and just as Fury is about to go, he gets out a pager – old school! – but before he finishes his sentences, he becomes the last snap victim we see, But the camera pans towards the pager and we see Captain Marvel’s insignia.
For fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we already knew that Brie Larson was cast as the superhero for her standalone film which was reportedly set in the 1990s – hence the pager.
And now, we finally see Larson catipulting herself into the role in the first trailer – which also features Fury with both eyes!!
As the film is set way in the past before the events of any of the other MCU films – except for Captain America: The First Avenger – we will see how she will become part of the vast universe and whether there will be any post-credit scenes hinting to her involvement in the upcoming Avengers 4.
Captain Marvel is set to hit cinemas in March 2019.
