Britney Spears announces her return to acting
Pop Princess Britney Spears is making a return to acting with an appearance on CW series Jane the Virgin.
Taking to Twitter, the Work B**tch singer told her 42.8 million followers she had accepted the guest role to play herself in the American rom-com television series scheduled to air later this year:

The award-winning series follows the journey of Jane, a virgin waitress working at a luxurious Miami hotel who falls pregnant after being accidentally artificially inseminated.
Showrunner and producer Jennie Snyder said she was thrilled Britney has agreed to appear as the nemesis of Jaime Camill’s character Rogelio in episode 205 of the new season.
“Personally, after hearing about their long standing fued from Rogelio’s point of view, we are eager to hear Ms. Spears’s side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney,” she told Variety.
Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez, who took out a Best Actress at this year’s Golden Globe Awards for her portrayal of Jane, tweeted that she “literally fell out” of her chair when learning of the guest appearance.

Camill also expressed his excitement at spending time with Spears on set, saying she was “the absolute best”.

The role marks the first time that Spears has performed as an actor since a 2010 Glee cameo, a two-episode spot on How I Met Your Mother in 2008 and her Will & Grace guest role in 2006. And let’s not forget Crossroads…
The new series of Jane the Virgin will premiere in the US on October 12 on The CW Network.
