Britney Spears pays a surprise tribute to her ex Justin Timberlake
Pop's princess proves that break-ups don't have to be 'Toxic'
If there is one thing you can count on in this ‘Crazy’ world at the minute, it is Britney Spears’s socials giving you life – and, no oops about it, she’s only gone and done it again.
Pop’s princess and eternal scrunchie lover proves that break-ups really don’t have to be ‘Toxic’ as she paid a surprise tribute to her long-time ex, Justin Timberlake.
The pair first dated in 1999, before calling it a day three years later to the sound of trickling teardrops from the peepers of fans around the globe (their matching double denim outfits will forever be emblazoned on our brains though).
We’re not sure how often the former couple speak, but if they don’t, Britters sure found a way to ‘Break the Ice’ yesterday (Thursday).
Taking to her Instagram account, the 38-year-old singer randomly shared a video of herself dancing along to Timberlake’s ‘Filthy’ with a big beaming grin on her face.
The clip sees the mum of two – wearing a white crop top, itsy-bitsy shorts and, yes, a scrunchie – bopping away on a balcony.
“This is my version of Snapchat or TikTok or whatever the cool thing you’re supposed to do these days,” she wrote. “As you can see I’m not really dancing folks… I’m just very bored.”
“P.S. I know we had one of the world’s biggest breakups 20 years ago… but hey the man is a genius!!!!” Britney continues. “Great song JT!”
She adds: “Pssss if you KNOW WHAT’S GOOD.”
As if hearing our calls of ‘Gimme More’, moments later the gay icon uploaded another vid of herself spinning along to the 2018 track.
No drama to see here, the performance received a rapturous round of applause from 39-year-old Timberlake – now married to actress Jessica Biel – who posted emojis of a crying laugh face and three clapping hands.
Over to you, JT, we’d love to see you bust a move to ‘Work Bitch’ – with a whip, if poss.
Britney – whose last album Glory was released in 2016 – also received the stamp of approval from her current boyfriend, model Sam Asghari, who gushed: “Snapchat, Instgram, TikTok, Facebook, even MySpace was inspired by you.”
Younger sister Jamie Lynn predicted the videos – which have notched up around six million views – could start a media ‘Circus’: “Blogs are already plotting their outrageous stories…. you keep having fun and looking cute tho!”
The unproblematic pop legend has been on internet-breaking form in recent weeks, from claiming to be the fastest human on the planet, to, more sweetly, offering to deliver food and diapers to those in need during the pandemic.
All that’s left to say, Brit, is: we are ‘Lucky’ to have you.
