Bryan Singer to direct ‘X-Men’ after abuse lawsuit withdrawal

Bryan Singer has finalised a deal to direct the next instalment of the X-Men series.
The director will take the helm on his fourth film, X-Men: Apocalypse, when production begins in 2015, according to Deadline.
The confirmation of Singer’s involvement follows the end of his legal battle with Michael Egan III, who had accused the director of sexually abusing him.
Last month, Egan voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit due to his lack of legal counsel.
However, the case has been dismissed without prejudice, meaning Egan can refile the claim in the future.
Earlier this year, Singer described Egan’s accusations as “outrageous, vicious and completely false”. He took the decision to withdraw from promotional events for the most recent X-Men film to avoid diverting attention away from the blockbuster – read more here.
X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016, with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence all confirmed to reprise their roles.
