Cast of ‘First Wives Club’ to reunite for new film

By Attitude Magazine

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD.

It’s a Christmas miracle: Diane Keaton, Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn, who last teamed up for the 1996 comedy smash hit The First Wives Club, will reunite for a new film in 2016.

Deadline reports that the trio of gay favourites will star, not in a sequel to their earlier hit about a gang of ex-wives out for revenge, but in a brand new story: titled Divanation, the Netflix original film will see them star as “members of a once-popular singing group forced to reconnect after their volatile split and 30 year estrangement”.

Lisa Addario and Joey Syracuse wrote the Divanation script, and the film will be produced by Mythology Entertainment’s Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt and William Sherak.

“As the diva trio reconnect, the reunion proves tense and cathartic as they realize what made them so successful all those years ago,” Deadline reports of the film, which is awaiting a new draft script before acquiring a director and a filming date.

One thing seems almost certain: With this musical plot, we should expect at least one musical number to rival the ladies’ iconic ‘You Don’t Own Me’ showstopping finale from The First Wives Club:
