Chaka Khan forgets most of the words to ‘It’s Raining Men’ on Letterman
Oh dear. Veteran funk-soul diva Chaka Khan made an appearance on The David Letterman Show last night, performing one-hit wonders The Weather Girls’ camp classic It’s Raining Men.
Trouble is, poor Chaka didn’t seem to have learned the words before stepping on to Letterman’s stage. Like, any of them.
Check out the performance below:
There’s no doubt that at 62 years old, Chaka’s still in fine voice – but many viewers were left wondering why didn’t that voice sing many of the actual words to the song. Throughout the performance, Khan could be seen scanning the floor in front of her, perhaps in search of cue cards or an auto cue?
Chaka Khan is doing It's Raining Men and she is clearly singing off an autocue. This is the famous battle for late night?

Still, Letterman joined Khan on stage after the performance, praising her rendition and ‘delightful’ – and the song’s co-writer, Letterman band leader Paul Shaffer, gave her a standing ovation from behind the keyboard. What did you think of the performance?
