Charmed star blasts ‘feminist reboot’ in epic rant: ‘Guess we forgot to do that the first time’

Charmed is officially returning to our TV screens. 

After reports a remake of the supernatural series was in the works, it’s now been revealed that a pilot has officially been greenlit by the CW Network. 

“This fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done,” revealed producers of the upcoming series. 

The news came as a tough pill to swallow for original star Holly Marie-Combs, who fought hard to keep the acclaimed show on the network back during its original run between 1998 and 2006. 

Marie Combs, who played Piper in the series, rushed to social media to lash out at the network: “Here’s the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like [executive producer] Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work. Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans.

“FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye.”

But Marie-Combs didn’t finish there. After spotting an article that claimed the remake will be about “tearing down the patricarchy,” she returned to Twitter to hit back and insist that the original series already did exactly that. 

She continued: “While some may not get why I take issue with the network that didn’t want to renew Charmed 12 years ago ‘reimagining’ it now let me just say I understand it perfectly.

“Also this kinda stuff given all that Rose and Alyssa have done lately…um no. Just No,” added the star. 

We couldn’t agree more.
