Check out an exclusive new picture from Nyle DiMarco’s Attitude cover shoot
By Will Stroude
Nyle DiMarco is changing world. And when the 27-year-old model and winner of America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars isn’t working to better the lives of deaf people, those living with disability and LGBT people, he’s starring in powerful campaign ads for the future (we hope) President of the United States.
In Attitude’s October issue – available to download now and in shops now – Nyle candidly discusses his life as a deaf, sexually-fluid man, and how he’s using his platform to help a generation of young deaf people for whom access to basic sign language education is in no way guaranteed.
To celebrate the end of a long hard week, we thought we’d share an exclusive new picture from our shoot with Mr DiMarco’s, photographed by Jenny Brough. So without further ado…
In the accompanying interview, Nyle tells us: “I’m fortunate, because our [deaf] community is so small, which means that there is more diversity. One of my best friends growing up is now a drag queen … In the deaf community everybody accepts everybody else because that’s who you are, you’re part of that community and that’s our safe space.
“We’re comfortable with our identity, it’s something I’ve never been embarrassed about.”
