With a scene-stealing turn in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and the release of gloriously camp ABBA cover album Dancing Queen, 2018 truly was the Year of Cher – but the 72-year-old pop icon is showing no signs of slowing down after confirming that a memoir and movie biopic are currently in thw works.

Fresh off announcing her first UK tour dates in more than 14 years on Tuesday (11 December), the ‘Believe’ singer revealed on Twitter that she’s currently working on her first autobiography, with a film biopic set to follow.

The memoir, which Cher teased is set to be released in early 2020, is likely to chart the incredible rise of Cherilyn Sarkisian from her humble beginnings in 1940’s southern California to monoymous pop superstardom.

News of a book and film comes just a week after The Cher Show – the long awaited musical production based on the singer’s life – opened on Broadway following years of tinkering by the Lady herself.

Speaking to Attitude earlier this year, Cher joked about the lengthy delays production, saying: “If I was dead it would be easier.”

Here’s hoping that having full creative control over the upcoming autobiography means that 2020 deadline won’t just be a pipe-dream.

Meanwhile, 2019 looks set to be another good year for Cher fans with yesterday’s news that she’ll be bringing her ‘Here We Go Again Tour’ to UK shores next October.

The Grammy, Emmy and Oscar-winning star is set to play five arena dates in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Leeds, with tickets due to go on sale this Friday (14 December) at 10am.
