Cher on retiring: ‘I don’t intend to step aside’

Cher has insisted she has no intention of hanging up her wigs any time soon.

The Grande Dame of gay icons, 68, has been in the spotlight for more than five decades – and is currently travelling across North America on her Dressed To Kill Tour.

However, in a recent interview, the Believe singer explained that retirement is not really an option.

“Diane Warren wrote You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me for Burlesque, and that’s the closest to who I am,” the singer told AARP. “I don’t intend to step aside. This is the first generation that’s said, ‘We’re not going to roll over and play dead because we’re a certain age.”

Cher went on to speak about her lasting success in the cutthroat entertainment industry, admitting that she’s “really not” a fan of herself:

“I’m not a confident person, and I’m really not a Cher fan. But I want to make sure I’ll do a great job, so I go balls to the wall and try to do every single thing I can,” she explained.

Although she has no intentions of “stepping aside”, Cher has admitted recently that her current tour will be her “honest to God” last – read more here.
