Cheryl Cole/Fernandez-Versini has matched a chart record held by Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora.

The X Factor judge’s new single, Crazy Stupid Love, debuts at Number One on the Official Singles Chart today (July 27), selling over 118,000 copies in its first week on release, with 3% of those sales attributed to streams from services such as Spotify.

Cheryl previously hit the top spot with her singles Fight for This Love in 2009, Promise This in 2010 and Call My Name in 2012, and now joins Halliwell and Ora as only the third British female solo artist to have scored four UK Number Ones during her career.

“It feels great to be back but even more special to have achieved my fourth Number One,” Cheryl told OfficialCharts.com. “So exciting!”

Elsewhere on the charts, Canadian band Magic! debut at number two with their reggae-tinged debut single Rude, which has already topped the charts in both the US and Canada. Ella Henderson’s former chart-topper Ghost bounces back to number three, while Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea’s summer smash Problem falls three places to number five.

Meanwhile, Attitude favourite Charli XCX debuts at number six with her new single Boom Clap, which is taken from the soundtrack to hit teen film The Fault in Our Stars. Girlband Neon Jungle notch up their fourth top 20 hit with Louder, which lands at number 14.
