Clean Bandit’s Neil Milan praises ‘beautiful’ same-sex proposal at show
By Will Stroude
Clean Bandit violinist Neil Milan has taken to Twitter to praise one adorable couple who got engaged during one of the band’s shows earlier this week.
The Rather Be hit makers were performing in Portland, Oregon on Wedneasday night (September 23), when a woman named Shelby surprised her girlfriend Joanna with a wedding proposal.
Taking to the stage with her beloved between songs, she said: “Joanna, we met way unexpectedly, and I wouldn’t change anything for the world. You keep me on my toes. You make me a better person. I love you with all of me.”
“Will you marry me?”
Joanna said yes as the audience erupted with cheers, and it seem that Neil – who is currently in a relationship with Years & Years’ frontman Olly Alexander – wasn’t immune to the moving moment either.
After the show he tweeted: “Yesterday in Portland these two beautiful ladies got engaged on stage in our show and it was so great.”

Bless. Congratulations Shelby and Joanna!
We know that Neil isn’t averse to onstage shows of affection himself: You can re-live that that adorable mid-performance kiss he shared with Olly during a festival earlier this month here.
