Despite looking very much at home in their various states of undress, member Richard Hatfield (far left) admits that he wasn’t always comfortable with getting his body out.

“When I was a school I was teased for being heavy and it upset me,” he says. “But then I realised I had a body built for rugby, so I did that”.

His band mate Jamie Lambert (centre) adds: “I have to admit I had body dysmorphia when I was at uni. I was big as a teenager and I would look in the mirror and not see what was looking back at me. I felt very alone and very self-concious and my self-esteem collapsed.”

He continues: “It was only when I changed universities that things seemed to get better… I joined lots of LGBT societies and began to meet more gay people and even felt comfortable enough in myself to start a relationship.”

The chart-topping band – whose second studio album Act II hit Number Two on the Official UK Albums Chart earlier this month – are also set to perform at Pride in London this Saturday, alongside the likes of Blue and Rebecca Ferguson.

At 214 pages, the Attitude Pride Awards issue is our biggest ever and packed with surprises. It’ll be available to download to you mobile, iPad or tablet device later today (June 23), and out in shops from tomorrow (June 24) – so keep your eyes peeled!
