Strap in, b*tches, because the first trailer for American Horror Story: Apocalypse is finally here – and things are about to go off.
Viewers were given their first taste of the horror anthology series eagerly-anticpated eigth season on Tuesday night (4 September), as the worlds established in 2011’s Murder House and 2013’s witchy camp-fest Coven collide for the first time.
Opening to the sound of an air raid siren over Los Angeles and the burnt out wreckage of vehicles on a beach, the trailer ups the stakes for the already blood-thirsty series as a voiceover declares: “It’s the end of the world”.
It also gives us our first glimpse of returning characters including Jessica Lange’s Constance, Sarah Paulson’s Supreme witch Cordelia, and Emma Roberts’ murderous Hollywood starlet Madison Montgomery, who repirses her immortal line: “I bet you thought you’d see the last of me”.
Also featured in the trailer is Dame Joan Collins, who appears on private jet with Evan Peters and Cult‘s Letitia Dean. The former Dynasty star, 85, is set to play the “glamourous” grandmother of Peters’ character – and based on the sheer size of the dress collar and jewels on display in this brief teaser, she’s not going to diappoint.
Apocalypse is set to pick up plot threads established in Murder House, as the story of Michael Langdon aka The Anti-Christ (played by Cody Fern) is revisited as he approaches adulthood.
You don’t have long to wait now, either: American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres September 12 on FX in the US and September 24 in the UK.
