Culture Club will play a one-off Hammersmith gig in September
By Micah Sulit
Everyone scream with us: Culture Club has announced a one-off London show on Saturday, September 5th.
The New Wave band, composed of Boy George, Roy Hay, Mikey Craig and Jon Moss, was forced to cancel their US and UK tour last year after doctors found a polyp in George’s throat and ordered him to lay off the singing for a bit. The rescheduled North American tour kicks off later this month in Vancouver.
The UK gig will be at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, where George and co will debut songs from their upcoming album, Tribes, and delight fans with old favourites.
Speaking of Culture Club classics, the band — minus Moss, who was suffering from back problems — performed a few on the TODAY Show on Thursday.
On the show, Craig described Tribes as “a mixture of eclectic sounds and styles — just like us”. The album will drop in early 2016.
George has been teasing Tribes on a ‘secret’ Soundcloud account under the pseudonym Angela Gina Dust. The tunes are amazing, and if they don’t get you excited for the album (and the September show), we don’t know what will.
