Cumberbatch dismisses ‘The Imitation Game’ Oscar buzz

Benedict Cumberbatch has played down the early Oscar buzz surrounding his performance in the The Imitation Game.
The Sherlock actor has been receiving rave reviews for his performance as gay World War II codebreaker Alan Turing, who played an integral role in defeating Nazi Germany in the Second World War after solving the Enigma Code.
The film, which also stars Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode, Allen Leech and Rory Kinnear, is also being tipped to take home next year’s Best Picture Oscar after winning a prestigious award at Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month (September). Find out more here.
However, Cumberbatch has insisted it is too early to be tipping him for an Oscar nod, telling Hello!: “It would be amazing, but to be honest it’s so premature that it would almost be futile to talk about it.”
“I understand why it always happens at festivals, but I just got my suit back from the dry cleaners from this year’s Oscars…There’s lots of films to see before we start going, ‘Oooh, blah, blah’,” he added.
