Cumberbatch recreates iconic Mr Darcy lake scene for charity

By Sam Rigby

Benedict Cumberbatch has recreated the iconic lake scene from Pride and Prejudice for a new charity campaign.

The Sherlock actor was photographed by noted celebrity photographer Jason Bell as part of TK Maxx’s Give Up Clothes for Good campaign for Cancer Research UK.

He is seen emerging from a lake wearing an unbuttoned shirt, just like Colin Firth’s Mr Darcy did in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

The Give Up Clothes for Good campaign asks the public to donate unwanted clothes to the clothing retailer to raise funds for research into children’s cancer.

Cumberbatch’s photo will be on display at the Give Up Clothes For Good exhibition – alongside photos of Kate Winslet and Strictly Come Dancing‘s Bruno Tonioli – from September 17-20 at London’s La Galleria Pall Mall. Entry is priced at £2 or an item of unwanted clothing.

For more information about the campaign, and how you can get involved, visit the official TK Maxx website.
