Daniel Radcliffe has praised Channing Tatum, his costar in new adventure movie The Lost City, for putting a sweet and sentitive spin on the stock hero character.

The Harry Potter star appears in the action comedy, out now, alongside Tatum and Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Brad Pitt.

In an interview with Attitude last week, Daniel – who plays a villain in the movie – said he heard an audience “melt as one” for Channing’s character Alan at a recent screening.

“It’s lovely to have a male protagonist like that”

“I’ve never heard an audience melt as one before. He’s a great hero. A hero that is incredibly masculine and looks the way he looks, but is also kind and sweet and thoughtful.

“It’s lovely to have a male protagonist like that.”

The former Attitude cover star also praised his LGBTQ co-stars in the film: Bowen Yang and Patti Harrison.

“They are two of the funniest people,” the 32-year-old said. “Anyone would be lucky to have them in their movie.”

In the same interview Speed star Sandra, who also served as producer on TLC, said of the film’s LGBTQ-inclusive casting: “I want it to look like my world, like the people I love. I look forward to the day when there’s no longer sections for everybody.”

The Lost City is out 15 April.
