Darren Criss the latest actor cast as ‘Hedwig’ on Broadway
By Josh Haggis
Darren Criss will be taking over the title role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, it has been announced.
The show, a rock musical about a fictional band fronted by a trans singer from Germany, recently won four awards at last year’s Tonys, including Best Revival of a Musical and a Best Actor award for then Hedwig actor, Neil Patrick Harris.
The Glee actor will begin a 12-week limited engagement in the role from April 29, taking over from the show’s creator, John Cameron Mitchell.
Criss will be following in the steps of the likes of Neil Patrick Harris and Girls star Andrew Rannells, who have both tried their hand at the role since the show debuted in April 2014.
