‘Deadpool’ will have more films, says Disney’s studio chairman following acquisition of Fox
The future of the Ryan Reynolds-starring franchise was up in the air

Disney’s studio chairman Alan Horn has confirmed Deadpool will have more films following their acquisition of Fox Studios.
Last month, Disney – who owns the rights of LucasFilm and Marvel Studios – successfully closed its $71 billion acquisition of Fox which means it now owns franchises including The Simpsons through to X-Men, Deadpool and James Cameron’s Avatar franchise.
Following the acquisition Ryan Reynolds – who stars as the titular character in the Deadpool movies – tweeted: “Feels like the first day of ‘Pool’.”

However, many fans speculated whether the R-rated Deadpool movies will continue when the House of Mouse bought the studios.
But speaking at CinemaCon on Wednesday (April 3) Horn confirmed that fans can expected to see “more of Deadpool in the years to come”.
Deadpool is one of the many Marvel superheroes who does not identify as heterosexual after co-creator Fabian Nicieza stated in 2013: “Deadpool is whatever sexual inclination his brain tells him he is in THAT moment. And then the moment passes.
“Not trying to be dismissive, but readers always want to ‘make a character their own’ and often that is to the exclusion of what the character might mean to other fans.
“I’ve been dogged with the DP sexuality questions for YEARS. It is a bit tiring. He is NO sex and ALL sexes.
“He is yours and everyone else’s. So not dismissive, but rather the epitome of inclusive.”
Although the movies have yet to showcase Deadpool’s pansexuality, we only have to wait and see whether Disney will go down that root.
