‘Cool For The Summer’ pop star Demi Lovato has revealed she has “adopted” she/her pronouns, as well as they/them, after coming out last year as non-binary.
In a new interview in which they were promoting a new record, Lovato, 29, announced her pronoun change and shared her thoughts about gender.
“I’ve been feeling more feminine, and so I’ve actually adopted she/her again,” Demi said on the Spout podcast.

“I’m such a fluid person when it comes to my gender, my sexuality, my music, my creativity,” she added, discussing how her music has grown alongside her own personal journey of self-discovery.
They added it was their fluidity of energy that has swayed this choice, saying last year that their “masculine and feminine energy” was balanced.
They continued: “So when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said ‘women’ and ‘men,’ I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me. Because I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman, I didn’t feel like a man.
“I just felt like a human,” Lovato notes. “And that’s what they/them is about for me. It’s about, like, feeling human at your core.”
The interviewer, Tamara Dhia, also brought up the topic of misgendering, to which Lovato said: “What’s important is like, no one is perfect.”
The Disney Channel alum added. “Everyone messes up pronouns at some point and especially when someone is learning, it’s just all about respect.”
On her Instagram profile, Lovato lists ‘she/her/they/them’ as her pronouns.
When she came out as non-binary last year, discussing her fluid identity, Lovato said: “I want to take this moment to share something very personal with you. Over the past year and a half, I’ve been doing some healing and self-reflective work.”
Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity & chance to be who we want & wish to be. I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, & everything in between. pic.twitter.com/HSBcfmNruo
