Dermot O’Leary tipped for Top of the Pops revival
By Ryan Love
Top of the Pops could return with Dermot O’Leary as host, a report has claimed.
The Mirror claims that BBC bosses are still in discussions about relaunching the show on Friday nights.
The return could come as the music industry prepares for the release of new singles and albums to move to Fridays.
The Official Chart countdown will move to Friday afternoons in July, something which has allegedly strengthened the attempts to bring Top of the Pops back.
Following O’Leary’s exit from The X Factor, insiders tells the newspaper that the plan would be to pair the Radio 2 DJ with Fearne Cotton.
O’Leary’s spokesperson did not comment, while the BBC added: “There have been constant whispers about Top of the Pops returning but they are just whispers.”
