Disclosure: ‘We haven’t worked with Madonna yet’
By Josh Haggis
Disclosure have dismissed suggestions that they are working with Madonna on her upcoming album.
Last month (June), the Queen of Pop sparked rumours she was collaborating with the UK dance duo – brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence – when she shared several pictures of them on her Instagram.
“Ah! It’s weird how people assume when you meet famous people you’re instantly collaborating with them,” said Guy Lawrence in an interview with our friends at Dazed.
“All we did was take a photo with her! Basically she came to our show, and we met her, and that’s why we took that photo. It was the first time we’d met her. But no, we haven’t made any music together as of yet.”
Guy Lawrence went on to describe the Ray of Light singer as “really nice,” revealing that she had turned up to their shows unannounced.
“Oh she’s wicked,” he said. “Really nice, really chilled. She came to Governors Ball, and the night before she came to see us DJ somewhere. She didn’t tell anyone she was going, she just turned up. And she didn’t make a scene, it was cool. It was amazing that she wanted to meet up at all.”
In recent months, Madonna has used her Instagram to reveal the diverse palette of collaborators she has assembled for her next album. The list now comprises Sky Ferreira/Haim producer Ariel Rechtshaid, Wrecking Ball co-writer MoZella, MIA collaborator Diplo, DJ/producer Avicii, former Lady Gaga collaborator Martin Kierszenbaum, cult pop singer Natalia Kills, US hit-maker Toby Gad and R&B producer Symbolyc One.
Yesterday (July 7), she appeared to reveal the lyrics to a new song called Messiah – click here to check them out.
Last week (July 2), producer Diplo teased that the tracks he has recorded with Madonna are “crazy sounding” – click here to find out more.
Madonna’s last studio album, MDNA, was released in 2012 and reached number one in the US and UK. She scored her 13th and most recent UK chart-topping single with 4 Minutes in 2008.
