Disney confirms release of ‘Toy Story 4’

A fourth Toy Story film is in development, Disney Pixar has announced.
John Lasseter, who directed the first two films in the much-loved animated series, will return to direct the sequel to 2010’s Toy Story 3.
The director has revealed that although another sequel was never originally planned, he was presented with a story by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo), Pete Docter (Up) and Lee Knkrich (Toy Story 3) that he loved so much that he couldn’t wait to bring it to the big screen.
“When Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie and I wanted to direct it myself,” said Lasseter.
“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” Lasseter said. “We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before,” he added.
Parks and Recreation actress Rashida Jones and her longtime collaborator, Will McCormack, have also been brought on board to help give the forthcoming sequel a “strong female voice,” reports the Los Angeles Times.
The Toy Story franchise, which began with the release of the original film in 1995, has made over $1.9 billion worldwide and spawned two sequels so far.
Toy Story 4 is slated for released on June 16, 2017.
