Dolly Parton and Katy Perry team up for colourful ACM Awards duet
By Will Stroude
The eagerly-anticipated collaboration between two of music’s most colourful characters took place last night (April 3), as Dolly Parton and Katy Perry took to the stage together at the 51st annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.
The divas paired up to perform three of Parton’s most iconic hits; ‘Coat of Many Colors’ (1971), ‘Jolene’ (1973) and ‘9 to 5’ (1980).
Perry also presented her the country legend with the night’s Tex Ritter Award, which honoured her work on NBC television movie Coat of Many Colors, which dramatised the star’s early life and impoverished upbringing in rural Tennessee.
