‘Drag Race’ star Farrah Moan accuses Ariana Grande of copying ‘All Stars 4’ outift

"I guess stealing from queer artists for profit is fine tho".

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Farrah Moan has accused Ariana Grande of ripping off one of her outfits.

The LA drag queen, who originally appeared on season 9 of RuPaul’s VH1 drag competition before returning for All Stars 4 last year, took to Twitter on Wednesday (4 Wednesday) to accuse Grande of copying one of her outfits in the video for ‘7 Rings’.

Sharing a picture of the two wearing similar silver corsets, Moan accused the singer’s team of paying the designer of one of her All Stars 4 outfits to “copy” it for Grande – information she claimed had come from the designer directly.

“Ariana should give me a cut of that 10M since her team literally sent a pic of me to the designer and paid them to copy my look from as4. (Finally met the designer and got told the Tea),” Moan wrote.

“I guess stealing from queer artists for profit is fine tho”.

Moan then tweeted a GIF of Grande wearing the corset in the ‘7 Rings’ video, replacing the original lyrics with the caption “You like my look? Gee thanks, just stole it.”

The 25-year-old’s comments came after it was revealed that Grande had launched legal action against US fashion brand Forever 21 for using a model she says copies her own likeness.

After her original tweets prompted an angry response from fans of Grande, who argued the singer had worn similar corsets throughout her career, Moan clarified that her ire was directed at the Grande’s “team” rather than the artist herself, but that “the point is her team also stole.” 

“Last thing ima say on this; the main ppl at fault here are her team,” Moan wrote. “If that queen didnt recreate it, they woulda found someone who would.

“When ur team makes a mistake, it falls on u. Idc what the lawsuit is really about, her legal team is accusing theft of likeness, image, w/e –

“But the point is her team also stole. U can attack me all day but it’s not gonna change anything. I can admit I was petty with that gif I posted& I’ll apologize for that but at the end of the day they did what they did.

“Idc about suing anyone, just needed to put this out there.”

Whatever side of this unlikely argument you fall on, it’s probably worth pointing out that the outfit in question is the intellectual property of the designer, and that if Moan’s claims are indeed true, it sounds like the designer was consulted, agreed to produce another outfit, and subsequently paid for their work.

Whether you think that’s appropriate or not, well that’s personal call…
