Drag Race star Jade Jolie apologises for starring in gay Nazi adult film

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jade Jolie has publicly apologised for appearing in a Nazi-themed gay adult film, stating that she has “felt shame and regret for that decision every day.”

The drag performer – who appeared on the fifth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2013, finishing in eighth place – took to Twitter last Thursday (9 September) to address her part in the the controversial movie as she was announced as part of the line-up for the fourth season of drag competition The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula. 

Jolie, real name Josh Green, appeared in a series of gay adult films in the mid noughties under the name ‘Tristan Everhard’, one of which included a Nazi ‘roleplaying’ scene. 

After the 34-year-old’s casting on The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula renewed focus on the offensive festish film (which Jolie first acknowledged publicly in 2013), the performer took to social media to apologise to the Jewish community and ‘take accountability’ for decisions made in her early twenties when she was struggling financially.

“I am so thankful for all the love and support I’ve received today. I am also thankful for the comments I’ve received holding me accountable for my previous actions”, wrote Jolie.

“When it was in my younger youth, I was down on my luck financially and did adult film work to survive. During one of the shoots I was involved in, I was asked to portray a nazi soldier in a scene.

“Against my better judgment [sic] and with an abusive partner pushing me to say yes, I chose to participate and I have felt shame and regret for that decision every day.

“My shame has also prevented me from speaking about my decision and making an apology. I realize now that avoiding this is only more damaging to the Jewish community and the people who have been hurt by this.

“I take full accountability for my choices and understand that what I did was wrong, regardless of the circumstances. I do not support antisemitism, racism or bigotry in any way and I apologize sincerely to anyone who I have hurt.”

Jolie added: “I hope moving forward I can show you that I’m not someone who is above taking accountability for the things I may be ashamed of.”

Jolie received public support from fellow Drag Race star Gia Gunn, who replied to Jolie’s post on Twitter, writing: “Never apologize for owning your truth. We learn, we grow and we move on. I support you my sister and this was so nice of you to acknowledge!”

The Boulet Brothers’ Dragule season four will premiere on streaming service Shudder on Tuesday 19 October, with new episodes airing weekly.
