Drake has cancelled his headline performances at Wireless Festival this weekend (July 4-6).

The US rapper cancelled the planned appearances at London’s Finsbury Park and Birmingham’s Perry Park due to sickness, after doctors ruled that the Take Care singer was too ill to fly.

In a statement, Drake said: “To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won’t be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend.

“I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me.

“I will be focused on resting for a quick recovery. I have the best fans in the world and I can’t wait to come back to make more incredible memories together.”

Wireless organisers have confirmed that Kanye West will now perform a second headline show in London in place of Drake, having already been booked to headline in the capital on Friday. In Birmingham, dance music collective Rudimental will now play an extended set and have announced that they will be joined by “an array of very special guests”.

As well as extra Rudimental tracks, ticket holders attending the festival on Friday in Birmingham will be compensated with £20 of “Wireless Credit” upon arrival. This will be redeemable anywhere on site including food, beverages, merchandise and fairground rides.

Refunds will be available from point of purchase before the event but will not be available at the event, Live Nation have confirmed.

Acts also performing include Pharrell Williams, Outkast, Tinie Tempah, Basement Jaxx, Ellie Goulding, Azealia Banks, Iggy Azalea and Clean Bandit. We’ve picked our top 5 must-see acts for the weekend, which you can see here.

If you haven’t been lucky enough to get tickets, you’ll be able to keep up with exclusive highlights over the weekend on MTV Music and MTV Live HD.
