Dua Lipa has come out in defence of the LGBTQ community following homophobic and offensive comments from DaBaby about gay men and HIV over the weekend.
At the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami on Sunday (25 July) the 29-year-old rapper, who collaborated with Dua on her hit single ‘Levitating’ last year, expressed wildly inaccurate statements about people living with HIV and Aids, and also made derogatory remarks about LGBTQ people.
Taking to Instagram following a backlash to his original comments, DaBaby seemed to double down, repeating the comments and telling people they were only meant to be heard by people in the audience at the festival.
“I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community”
Posting in her Instagram story, Future Nostalgia star Dua expressed her horror at DaBaby’s comments, as well as her support for the LGBTQ community.
“I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments,” Dua wrote on her Instagram story. “I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with.
“I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”
It appears Dua Lipa and DaBaby no longer follow each other on social media. The two collaborated on a remix of ‘Levitating’, which was released last October, peaking at number 2 in the Billboard chart, where it is still currently at number 3.
Following DaBaby’s comments fans have been calling for him to be removed from the remix of ‘Levitating’, with his part filled by a number of options including Madonna and Lil Nas X, as one person suggested.
can we get dua lipa to re-record the levitating remix with @lilnasx instead bc dababy is a homophobe

Speaking during the Rolling Loud Festival on Sunday DaBaby said: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two, three weeks, then put your cellphone light up.”
He also said “Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d*** in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
On Tuesday (27 July) he apologised on Twitter saying he had no intention of offending anyone and that his comments had been “digested” incorrectly. He also told brands to “keep yo money” after, apparently, brands began distancing themselves from him, according to Variety.
Anybody who done ever been effected by AIDS/HIV y’all got the right to be upset, what I said was insensitive even though I have no intentions on offending anybody. So my apologies 🙏🏾
But the LGBT community… I ain’t trippin on y’all, do you. y’all business is y’all business.
