Duffy returns with first single in five years
She basically took over the world in 2008 with her monster single Mercy and debut album Rockferry, but little has been heard of Duffy since the turn of the decade – until now.
The 31-year-old contributes three songs to the soundtrack of new Tom Hardy movie Legend, in which she also has a small role – and one, Whole Lot of Love, has been officially serviced as a single.
Accompanied by a cover of Andy Williams’ 1964 song Dear Heart as its B-side, the track successfully brings the returning star into the 2015 soundscape without losing what made her so popular seven years ago.

After posting an image to Facebook on Wednesday (September 9) of the words ‘ARE YOU READY?’, the song was released to digital retailers and streaming services on Friday (September 11). It’s not currently known what the deal is as far as a new album is concerned, but fingers crossed, right?
Rockferry has been certified 7x Platinum in the UK, selling 2.2 million copies over here alone and over 9 million worldwide. Its follow-up, 2010’s Endlessly, sold 1 million worldwide and peaked in the Top 10 in Britain.
Welcome back, Duffers.
