Duncan James reveals how his daughter feels about having a gay dad

Former Attitude cover star Duncan James says he is “lucky” his 10-year-old daughter Tianie accepts his sexuality, after worrying for some time she would struggle with having him as a gay father.

After coming as bisexual man in 2009, the Blue singer revealed in 2012 he was actually gay. But while his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Claire Grainger ended some nine years ago, the 37-year-old worried his daughter would struggle to accept him.

“I was worried how she’d feel about having a gay dad. But I’m so lucky because she’s so accepting,” he told Closer Magazine.

While James also spoke of his desire to have more children, he admitted he would prefer to be in a committed and stable relationship first.

“I know a lot of gay people who have gone through surrogacy to have kids, and there aren’t that many of us who have managed it naturally,” he said.

“I think I’d like more kids, but I’d want to be in a stable relationship. It’s really hard meeting people, especially when you’re in the public eye.”

Last year as the cover model for Attitude’s ‘Naked’ issue, James said the process of coming out had lifted a weight from his shoulders.

“It definitely felt like a weight had been lifted,” he said.

“It was such an important time in my life and I’m thankful to all my family, friends and fans for not batting an eyelid when I came out.

“Sexuality is irrelevant to them, they love me for being me.”
