By Ryan Love
EastEnders
boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins has teased the building relationship between Ben Mitchell and newcomer Paul Coker.
There was an instant attraction between the pair when Paul arrived in Albert Square last month, with an on-screen kiss between them prompting some viewers to complain.
Speaking at a press event for upcoming summer storylines, the executive producer teased that the story will see viewers really learn more about Ben, played by Harry Reid.
“We’ve had a lot of fun with Paul and Ben’s big summer of gay romance,” Treadwell-Collins said. “But it has a seriousness underneath it as well.
He explained: “It’s a real love story and it keys Ben up as we dig into what makes Ben tick.”
Ben is currently in a relationship with Abi Branning, attempting to hide his sexuality from those closest to him.
