Eastenders fans left confused as ‘gay’ Steven Beale kisses Lauren Branning
After returning to the BBC soap on Friday (May 27), Eastenders stars Steven Beale and Lauren Branning left fans confused at the end of last night’s (May 30) episode by sharing a kiss.
The pair have returned to Albert Square following Bobby Beale’s attack on Jane Beale, leaving her hospitalised.
Lauren (portrayed by Jacqueline Jossa) left the soap in early 2015 with her fiancé Peter Beale to join Steven (Aaron Sidwell) in New Zealand, who departed in 2008 after being involved in a bisexual love triangle with Stacey Slater and Christian Clarke.
But now it seems the pair are together, and Lauren’s apparent relationship with her Peter’s step-brother Steven has left fans very confused.
The scene followed Steven openly flirting with fellow returnee Johnny Carter (Ted Reilly) earlier in the episode whilst Lauren was off screen, leaving the door seemingly open for another potential love triangle to come…
Wait. I'm confused. Isn't Lauren with Peter? And isn't Steven Beale gay? #EastEnders
