Eastenders: Shock plot twist for Ben Mitchell set to rock Albert Square – (Major spoilers)

WARNING: This post contains major EastEnders spoilers that some readers might wish to avoid.
In a shocking plot twist for BBC Eastenders, new images have been released images seemingly confirming the death of one of Walford’s most long-standing gay residents, Ben Mitchell.
Pictures released by DigitalSpy show members of the Mitchell and Beale families gathering at a hospital to hear the heartbreaking news that Ben Mitchell (Harry Reid) has died after succumbing to injuries sustained during an as-yet unspecified ‘incident’.
No scenes showing the incident itself have been released.
Ben Mitchell has been at the centre of a number of dramatic plot lines, including coming out as gay and fighting for acceptance from his father Phil Mitchell, killing fan favourite Heather Trott, and being victim to a campaign of abuse by Phil’s former lover Stella Crawford.
Most recently, he’s been romantically involved with Paul Coker, played by TV newcomer and total hottie, Jonny Labey. Bosses confirmed earlier this year that Paul would be exiting the soap in an ‘explosive’ storyline this summer, leaving us all wondering what role he may play in the lead-up to Ben’s untimely demise.
EastEnders airs these scenes next week on BBC One.
